Canon PowerShot SD 1000 Overview
If it comes to having a compact camera with attractive design, the 7-megapixel Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Camera would be one of the leading contenders. It features a standard 3x Optical zoom with a 35 mm equivalent focal range of 35-105 mm. In addition there is a 2.5-inch LCD that delivers 230,000 pixels of resolution. The unique feature of this digital camera is the optical viewfinder, rarely found in cameras of such small and compact sizes.
A recent discussion on the special features of SD1000 on the Cool Gadgets revealed that the camera lacks manual aperture and shutter speed controls. This is typical of the digital ELPH series. However, it offers a series of scene modes, exposure compensation, and manual and auto ISO.
This is one of the reasons why this particular model of the Canon Digital Cameras is ranked among the Best Digital Cameras. The new on demand Auto ISO shift feature could improve the light sensitivity up to a maximum of 800 with the push of a button. There is also the white balance option. The new face detection technology with the DIGIC III processor is a bonus.
When compared to almost equally efficient Canon sd850 IS Digital Camera things that would favor the SD 1000 would be that it is less expensive at around $300. It is also better than its sibling the SD750 in being less expensive and lighter and by replacing the function set of SD 750 by a touch control dial system.
